EMN COVID-19 Technical Assistance; the story of Oportunitas

Financial inclusion is essential to building a just and stable future. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic destabilized microfinance institutions worldwide due to the nature of their activities (micro and small businesses) and their socio-economic background.

 The EMN in partnership with J.P Morgan, responded quickly to the urgent needs of these institutions, by setting up a technical assistance project to a selection of 6 microfinance institutions, helping them to ensure continuous, efficient, and adapted support to entrepreneurs in the #COVID era.

 We were pleased to be part of this big impact assignment and witness social-impact efforts that create real value! We worked with a key beneficiary of this project, Fundación Oportunitas (Spain),  a social microfinance institution based in Spain that creates opportunities by granting social microloans to entrepreneurs at risk of social and/or financial exclusion.

 Oportunitas, in partnership with Singlify(Technology Partner), and Qredits (Through sharing past knowledge and experience) set up a digital module to allow the organisation to manage and scale up its volunteer mentors programme efficiently, thereby enhancing its social impact.
