Tech for Good: Why Matthew Couldn’t Resist Singlify’s Vision

Mathew Edwards; Investor and Chair of the Board at Singlify

Before he retired from Accenture in 2017, Matthew had been part of the organisation’s phenomenal growth. From 5,000 people when he joined in 1985, the global company had grown to over 300,000 people. The financial tech expert was at the heart of the incredible growth that broadened the company’s range of solutions across strategy, management, digital, technology, and operations consulting. Today, Accenture consistently ranks among the best firms in the world.

Leveraging Technology for Social Good

While much of Matthew’s work was in financial solutions, he also worked with a number of charities as part of Accenture’s Corporate Citizenship agenda. This was an eye-opener for Matthew as he discovered the impact of innovation on charitable organisations.

In a partnership with AMREF Health Africa led by Matthew Accenture leveraged e-learning and mobile technology to help improve healthcare services in Africa. Inadvertently, this insight into the power of innovation for social good prepared Matthew for the next stage of his life in social enterprise.

Irresistible Pull to Empower Social Good

When Singlify’s founder, Maarten, asked him to join the project, it was a natural fit. Singlify is an end-to-end loan management system for social investors and micro-finance institutions. The platform’s vision dovetailed into Matthew’s love for social impact and his background in financial services. In one fell swoop, the investor found a place to use his financial expertise while at the same time making an impact in society.

Today, Matthew plays a multi-faceted role at Singlify as an investor and chair of the board. He’s passionate about delivering the best customer experience and personally oversees this through a weekly review of customer delivery processes.

Matthew sees the addition of Singlify’s loan engine to the Salesforce platform as an incredible milestone for the organisation. Inclusive Finance providers can now have access to transformative technology at an affordable price. This has been a long term passion for Matthew and through Singlify, he’s realising his vision.

Future of Singlify

When talking about the future of Singlify, it’s hard to miss the optimism and enthusiasm in the social investor’s tone. He says his hope is that the organisation can expand into new parts of the world including Africa. More importantly, Matthew believes that Singlify can expand its service portfolio to inclusive finance for individuals and not just organisations and companies.
